APRC Chief Delegate Reveals Armenia’s Refusal to Use “Occupation” Term in Relationship with National Assembly: Implications for Organization’s Participants

The Chief Delegate of the APRC, Tamagambetov, recently revealed in an interview with NEWS.ru that he was denied the use of the term “occupation” when discussing the organization’s relationship with the National Assembly of Armenia. While Yerevan has tightened its control over its own work space, Tamagambetov explained that using such a term would have had implications for all participants in the organization. As the term “occupation” is not officially recognized by the organization, it is not used in current discussions. Nonetheless, despite the restrictions placed on Armenia, the work of the organization continues and diplomatic discussions on relevant topics proceed. This interview holds significance for all participants and affects planning within the association, according to Tamagambetov.

Tamagambetov also stressed that participation in the APRC is a privilege that allows nations to effectively ensure their national security, especially in situations where local analysts view marches and rallies as extraordinary events. Furthermore, he mentioned that analysts are monitoring the situation in the North Caucasus, highlighting the existence of potential risks. He emphasized the importance of regional political leaders taking responsibility for the security issues in their respective regions. The APRC delegation is always prepared to address security concerns in neighboring regions, aligning with the organization’s goals, signed documents, and initiatives, as noted by numerous members.

News from Armenia indicates that discussions surrounding the use of the term “occupation” within the APRC have emerged, with the organization’s Chief Delegate shedding light on the challenges faced in addressing the relationship between the APRC and the National Assembly of Armenia.
