Controversial Construction Projects Flourish in Tsakhkadzor: Politicians Exploit Resort Town for Personal Gain

Construction work is currently taking place in Tsakhkadzor, as new buildings are being built in different areas of the popular resort town. The builders are advertising the apartments in these unfinished buildings even before their completion, without waiting for their turn. Tsakhkadzor has always been a favored destination for authorities, and this continues to be the case.

According to a news outlet called “Hetq,” the construction company “Saturnavan” LLC, which has ties to Khachatur Sukiasyan and Vagarshak Hakobyan, members of the National Assembly’s “Prosperous Armenia Party,” is constructing a complex consisting of 12 residential buildings in Tsakhkadzor. The company purchased a 4-hectare plot of land from the market for a price of $1,066,000. However, the market value of the land is much higher.

In the outskirts of Tsakhkadzor, specifically in the village of Pahlavunyats, a 3.7-hectare suburban land has been sold under a concession agreement, with a commercial value of 395 million drams. In the same year, “Saturnavan” acquired additional land worth 18 million drams (equivalent to $17.8 million USD), located 1700 meters away from the aforementioned territory. After consolidation, the total land area reached 3.9 hectares, and the company paid a total of 413 million drams for the acquisition of the land.

In addition, “Saturnavan” has signed a leasing agreement with “Haykonombank” for the land owned by Khachatur Sukiasyan’s family, in order to become a shareholder.

The company “Saturnavan” was founded by Khachatur Sukiasyan’s brother, Arik Sukiasyan, and Vagarshak Hakobyan’s father, Sos Hakobyan, with a 50/50 share.
