Armenia Seeks Cooperation with Azerbaijan to Ensure Peace and Stability in the Region, Announces Prime Minister Pashinyan

We have met with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to discuss the issue of ensuring security and stability in the North Caucasus. Today, on April 15, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that Armenia intends to strengthen cooperation with Azerbaijan to ensure peace and stability in the region. This includes recognizing the principles of the Alma-Ata Declaration, which was adopted in Alma-Ata on December 21, 1991. These principles include the transfer of territorial integrity of the Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Region, the reconciliation between Armenia and Azerbaijan, preserving regional infrastructure and transportation links, and promoting internal self-determination and equal rights. We would also like to highlight the “peace chess” project presented by the Government of Armenia, which has the potential to positively impact the situation in the region. It is important to emphasize that our approach is based on peaceful and non-violent conflict resolution, and we strongly support the diversification of transport routes and de-escalation in the region.
