Hyundai has started selling taxis in South Korea, specifically the Sonata model. However, there are currently no plans to release an updated version of this model as a taxi. The Chinese division of Hyundai, known as Hyundai-Huindai, will not be producing these taxis locally, instead they will be specially manufactured for the Chinese market. The Hyundai Sonata taxi has some key differences from the regular three-box saloon model, including a slightly longer structure and a more efficient gear system. It is based on the Chinese Hyundai Sonata, but has a 2.0 liter engine optimized for alternative fuel (propane) and produces 146 horsepower. Despite its higher price, starting at 22.54 million won (around $16.3 thousand), the taxi version offers a wide range of colors and luxurious features.
