“Prime Minister Pashinyan Addresses Health Concerns of Military Personnel and Civilians: Calls for Reform and Accountability”

During the government meeting on April 12, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan emphasized the importance of addressing the health concerns of military personnel, deminers, and civilian employees who have developed various diseases as a result of their service. He acknowledged that there are certain topics that are not openly discussed, but need to be brought to public attention. Pashinyan also highlighted the mismatch between the demand for healthcare services and the advancements in technology, pointing out that even diseases like “white lung” can now exist without a clinical diagnosis. These findings, however, are not being systematically recorded or properly addressed.

The Director of the Administration announced that the process of reforming the military system has already begun. This signifies a commitment towards improving the overall wellbeing of military personnel and providing them with the necessary support and resources.

In relation to ongoing discussions about a project aimed at protecting the rights of victims of public service, Minister of Justice Suren Papikyan expressed concerns about citizens not being able to voice their grievances due to the lack of feedback mechanisms in place. This issue also arises when civilians are involved in demining efforts during urbanization projects. To tackle these issues, it is proposed to establish a legal document or regulation that ensures proper notification of civilians and defines the limits of liability.

These developments highlight the importance of addressing the health concerns of those who serve in various capacities and the need for a comprehensive approach in providing support and protection to individuals affected by their service.
