“Outdated and Unsafe: Capital City’s Urban Planning Fails to Meet Demands for Seismic Safety, as Renovations Bring Hope”

The demands for urban planning and seismic safety of the capital city are not being met by some outdated and unsafe constructions, while certain constructions are being renovated. According to the Municipality of Yerevan, 44 out of 135 former educational institutions have been completely demolished and replaced with newer and more technologically advanced buildings.

The process of designing new constructions for educational institutions takes into account the presence of seismic activity in the area. The new buildings are also designed to address the transportation difficulties faced by children.

Currently, renovation works are being carried out in 17 educational institutions in the capital city. One construction has already been completed and put into operation.
