On April 7, an incident occurred in the Ararat province where Colonel Artur Zirovyan, the head of the Department of Internal Affairs of the RA National Security Service, was attacked while performing his official duties on Shahumyan Street in the city of Artashat. The incident was reported by Shamshyan.com.

According to the RA NSS Provincial Department of Internal Affairs, the suspect has been identified as Vilik G., a 41-year-old resident of the Ararat province. The police are currently investigating the incident and have transferred the suspect to the Department of Internal Affairs of Artashat for further actions.

It has been reported that the suspect has already confessed to meeting his accomplices at 10:00 am on April 7 at the specified location. He handed over a “Valerik” type 12mm pistol, which is designed for shooting rubber bullets and was previously prepared for him.

As a result of the incident, documentation has been prepared in the Department of Internal Affairs of Artashat and transferred to the Investigative Committee of the RA for further proceedings.
