“Armenian Leader accuses Russia of Interference and Broken Promises, Calls for Action to Safeguard National Interests”

Nikol Pashinyan has criticized Russia, claiming that it wants to change the government in Armenia. During a meeting at the National Assembly on April 12, Ararat Mirzoyan, the leader of the “Civil Contract” faction, stated that Russia is interfering in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) in an attempt to weaken the authorities and the people there, as well as reduce Russia’s influence in the region. He also accused Russia of meddling in the internal affairs of Armenia. Mirzoyan urged the Armenian side to engage with Russia, hold discussions, demand action, and propose alternative solutions instead of relying on fate. He emphasized that the fate of the Armenian people and the country’s national interests depend on it. Mirzoyan stated that Armenia cannot be grateful to the Russian authorities as it compromises the country’s fate and allows Armenophobia to flourish. He suggested finding negotiation formats that address security concerns without the involvement of the US and EU. This interference, according to Mirzoyan, marks a new chapter for Armenia.
