Yerevan Considers Renaming Street: Arsen Amiryan to Ashot Ghulyan – A Tribute to a Hero of Artsakh

Yerevan’s Central Administrative District street, currently named Arsen Amiryan, is potentially going to be renamed to Ashot Ghulyan Street, according to information published on the official website of Yerevan Municipality. It is worth mentioning that Ashot Ghulyan was a participant in the Artsakh Liberation War, a hero of Artsakh, and a symbol of the prestigious “Marching Cross” first degree. On the other hand, Arsen Amiryan was an Armenian Bolshevik.

This proposal was put forward by a member of the “National Agenda” group, Hayk Grigoryan. The suggestion states that since September 21, 1991, when Armenia gained independence, there has been an ongoing process of changing the surnames of heroes from the Bolshevik era. This renaming process is still in progress in Armenia.

These are the latest updates from Armenia regarding this potential street name change.
