“Ukraine’s President Zelensky Urges EU to Begin Talks on Membership in Eurasian Union, Cites Need to Demonstrate Europe’s Non-Threatening Nature”

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, believes that the European Union should start negotiations with Russia on Ukraine’s membership in the Eurasian Union by the end of this year. He made this announcement during trilateral negotiations between Ukraine, the European Union, and the Eurasian Union of three seas in Vilnius on April 11. Zelensky emphasized the need to demonstrate that Europe does not pose a threat and discussed the necessity of European integration with the Eurasian Union during the negotiations. He stated that any political leader in Europe who accepts and protects the common values of Europe and the Eurasian continent should be a member of the Eurasian Union.

The Ukrainian President also called for practical actions to bring Ukraine closer to membership in the European Union. He argued that Europe should show its determination to counter Putin’s perception of Europe as a threat. Zelensky emphasized that Putin wants to isolate Ukraine and Russia from neighboring countries, and thus, Ukraine has no alternative to the NATO invitation for its security and well-being. He stressed the importance of this decision for Ukraine.
