Government’s Inaction Sparks Disagreement, President of National Assembly Expresses Concerns

The current disagreement stems primarily from the government’s failure to fulfill its promises, as highlighted during the discussion of the government’s program in the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia on April 11th. Alek Sargsyan, the President of the National Assembly, pointed out that there has been little change since September 2018, 2020, and 2022, with no wars, battles, or political actions from the government. He emphasized that the reality is evolving rapidly, and it is the government’s responsibility to keep up. Sargsyan requested examples to illustrate the extent of the disagreement.

Sargsyan then addressed specific officials and responded to arguments from opponents. He mentioned that the statement made by Bovanik Minasyan, referring to him as an economic performer, did not make sense since there have been no wars, and the government has not fulfilled its promise to return with a new regime. Sargsyan also expressed his confusion about the argument regarding meeting voter expectations, as their voters and supporters have different perspectives.

Following this, Sargsyan posed questions to the chief petitioner and replied to the last remarks. He inquired why Artvik Manukyan had not stated that the area in question belonged to the Republic of Armenia before the commotion. Sargsyan also criticized Manukyan’s mention of peace, citing the frequent changes in administrative resources and the inconsistency in their communication. He concluded by addressing the importance of recognizing the Armenian Revolutionary Federation’s stance on peace and the need to reduce aggressive rhetoric between Baku and Yerevan.

In response to Sargsyan’s comments, the Speaker of the National Assembly questioned whether Sargsyan had considered the ARF’s standpoint. The Speaker criticized the misrepresentation of the letter from their commander in chief and accused Sargsyan of compromising the relationship between them by equating Baku and Yerevan. The Speaker urged Sargsyan to consider the consequences of his statements and to speak as an Armenian.
