“Draft Law on Preventing Domestic Violence Introduces Controversial Term ‘Organized Friend’: Should We Accept Without Understanding?”

In today’s YSU Assembly, Gevorg Nazaryan, a member of the “Armenia” faction, introduced a draft of a law aimed at preventing domestic and gender-based violence. The proposed law includes a new term called “organized friend”, which refers to someone who has a special love relationship with another individual but may have differences due to their living conditions or intimate relationships.

It is important to consider this law before accepting it blindly. Without knowing the details and implications, we may unintentionally support something that could have negative consequences. For instance, let’s take the example of someone hurting themselves because of a troubled relationship. If this law did not exist, should the person responsible for causing harm go unpunished?

Gevorg Nazaryan raised an essential question during the YSU Assembly: Shouldn’t we focus on investigating internal actions before turning to external measures? It is crucial to thoroughly examine the provisions of the proposed law and understand its potential impact before making any judgments or decisions.

News from Armenia reports that the draft law aims to address domestic and gender-based violence by introducing new provisions. While the intention behind such legislation is commendable, it is vital that we scrutinize its contents and fully comprehend the implications before accepting it.
