“27 Countries Unite to Ramp Up Military Support for Ukraine: Urgent Meeting with International Security Representatives”

The foreign ministers of 27 countries and representatives of international security held a meeting on April 22 to discuss military assistance for Ukraine, announced by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, on his X-page microblog. Borrell emphasized the need for increased military support and stated that he had written to EU foreign ministers and representatives of international security to inform them about the meeting. He highlighted the importance of expediting and expanding military assistance to Ukraine and expressed hopes for a joint decision on April 22. Borrell also stressed the necessity of providing Ukraine with anti-aircraft defense systems to protect against Russian missiles and safeguard towns and critical infrastructure.

In addition, Borrell called for expanded military cooperation between the EU and Ukraine and underscored that the EU’s military assistance would form the foundation for the transfer, production, and delivery of anti-aircraft defense systems. He extended an invitation to the Ukrainian government to organize a forum on the security of the Ukrainian Peninsula in May. As the EU coordinator, Borrell emphasized the significance of enhancing Ukraine’s defense capabilities and working collaboratively to address the ongoing security challenges in the region.
