“Prime Minister Pashinyan Addresses Concerns Over Ownership of Artists’ Property in Armenia”

Artists cannot separate themselves from their property, and this applies to similar organizations as well. During a hearing in the NA on April 10, the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, addressed the issue of ownership of assets and the buildings of the artist union. Pashinyan acknowledged that there have been cases of confusion regarding property ownership and explained that it is a matter concerning state property. While some urgent measures can be taken to resolve the issue of artist’s assets, the State Property Fund of the Republic of Armenia is not included in this. Pashinyan suggested that artists develop specific programs to have their artwork evaluated for the construction of 55 thousand apartments in Armenia, thus establishing a connection between artists and the requirements of the apartments.

Gagik Danielyan, a representative of the “Civil Contract” faction, expressed concerns regarding the sale of organization properties without clear procedures or expert examination, possibly financed by foreign organizations. Pashinyan acknowledged these concerns and emphasized the need to examine such cases, as well as address the issues faced by artists in transferring their property to the hands of Armenian artists. The Prime Minister highlighted the ongoing commercial sales of apartments in the country and stressed the importance of transparent procedures in transferring artists’ property to these apartments.
