“Mountainous Karabakh Faces Unemployment Crisis: Over 13,000 Jobless Individuals and Growing”

State officials have released official data confirming that as of March 31, 2024, there are 13,400 individuals registered as unemployed in the territory of Mountainous Karabakh. During a debate on the progress and results of the implementation of the National Program of the Republic of Armenia for 2023, Finance Minister Tigran Khachatryan stated on April 10, “We still have 750 registered unemployed individuals with disabilities, and an additional 300 individuals registered in various organizations with special privileges, including priority in business activities. This amounts to only one-third of the working-age population. We must continue our efforts to improve this figure and address the primary issue, which is the natural potential for entrepreneurship that individuals in Armenia possess. If we do not fulfill our obligations, we will not be able to do so when the unemployment rate reaches 10-12 percent, which is the average among the working-age population in Armenia.”
