This announcement comes after a meeting between the head of the department, Sergey Lavrov, and a Chinese official. The statement from the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that the Chinese President, Xi Jinping, welcomed Lavrov’s visit to Beijing as an important step in preparing for Putin’s official visit. The meeting between Lavrov and Jinping took place in the Great Hall of the People, with discussions focusing on the “fight against the counteraction of the West” initiated by US President Joe Biden. Additionally, China’s special envoy Li Hui mentioned the importance of organizing the game in the format of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, taking into account the recognition of both Russia and Ukraine.
