Remembering the Legacy: Legendary Armenian Astronaut Vladimir Aksyonov Passes Away at 90
At the age of 90, the famous Armenian astronaut Vladamir Aksyonov has passed away, according to an announcement made by the “Roscosmos” space agency.
The “Roscosmos” publication stated, “Aksyonov’s contribution was significant and irreplaceable. He was a courageous, determined, and righteous person who was always ready to help others.”
Aksyonov embarked on his first space flight from September 15-23, 1976, aboard the “Soyuz-22” spacecraft. He also conducted the inaugural experimental flight of the new “Soyuz T-2” spacecraft from June 5-9, 1980. The cosmonaut played a vital role in the “Salute-6” scientific research complex.
