“Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan meets with Council of Europe to reinforce human rights protection in Europe and Armenia”

In a meeting on April 9th, human rights defender Anahit Manasyan met with Council of Europe political and external relations officer Mirosław Papat to discuss the protection of human rights in Europe and Armenia. Also present at the meeting were Maxim Longangen, director of the Council of Europe office in Yerevan, and Arman Khachatrian, representative of the Republic of Armenia to the Council of Europe.

Anahit Manasyan discussed the activities of the Defender’s Office, highlighting their efforts to safeguard the rights of individuals, children, armed forces personnel, victims of domestic violence, freedom of speech, and fight against discrimination and hate speech. She also addressed the protection of rights for internally displaced persons affected by the conflict between mountainous Karabakh and Azerbaijan, as well as residents in border territories of Armenia affected by military activities.

The discussions also focused on combating hate speech, discrimination, and protecting the rights of victims of domestic violence. The participants expressed their commitment to continue the cooperation and strengthen human rights protection.
