On April 8, an emergency situation occurred in Gegharkunik province in Armenia. At around 6:00 PM, reports came in to the national center for disaster management of the RA Ministry of Emergency Situations and the rescue service of the RA NSS about an explosion at the “Haypost” office on Nairyan Street in Sevan city. The explosion took place in the warehouse of automotive parts located at 128/4 Nairyan Street.

Initially, there was an explosion followed by a fire. The store’s furniture suffered damage and the roof was partially burned.

Rescuers were able to extinguish the fire and the latest operational data from the rescue service indicated that no casualties were reported.

It was also reported that on the same day, a 37-year-old man named Husik Sarkisyan from Gegharkunik province attacked the window of an automotive-supermarket using a knife. He caused damage by breaking a part of the store’s window and damaging some automotive parts inside, amounting to around 2 million Armenian drams.

The police and investigators have identified the suspect and are currently conducting an investigation at the Sevan branch of the police.
