“Tbilisi Resident Sentenced to Highest State Sanction for Criminal Conspiracy in Moscow Court”

The Tverskoy District Court in Moscow has issued a remote sentence to Yakov Ismayilov, a 50-year-old resident of Tbilisi, who was previously known as Teimuraz Faroyan. He has been charged with criminal conspiracy under Article 210.1 of the Russian Criminal Code, as well as international incitement to hatred. The court’s spokesperson stated that the court has fulfilled the complaint’s requirement by ordering Ismayilov’s detention until a decision is made on deportation or extradition. Ismayilov was previously sentenced in 2015 for attempted murder and spent time in a high-security prison until 2018. Following his release, he changed his name and surname. The Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed that Ismayilov has held a significant role in criminal conspiracy in the Karabakh region since 1992.
