“Rare Ancient Egyptian Christian Manuscript, the Crosby-Schoyen Codex, Set to Fetch Millions at Auction”

The book, believed to have been written in one of Egypt’s first Christian monasteries around the 4th-5th centuries, is set to be auctioned in June. The Crosby-Schoyen Codex, considered one of the oldest existing texts, is expected to fetch 2.8-3.8 million dollars, as per Christie’s auction house.

“This is precisely the period when the papirus begins to take the form of a codex,” said Evgenio Donadoni, an expert on Christie’s books and manuscripts. “And what we have in this book is the oldest text of the two books of the Apocalypse.”
