The “People” newspaper has reported that Anahit Avanesyan, the Minister of Healthcare, has been invited and interviewed by the Criminal Committee. Last year, we reported that a formal invitation was being prepared, and this time it was sent to the Minister of Healthcare. Consequently, she attended the interview as a witness. Furthermore, it has come to our attention that Arsen Torosyan, the former Minister of Healthcare, has also been summoned to listen to Anahit Avanesyan. It is worth noting that Torosyan had previously considered the preliminary investigation to be closed.

Last year, the anti-corruption committee actively invited employees of the “Grigor Lusavorich” Medical Center. As for the ongoing investigation, we have received information that, due to the state of emergency caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Government of Armenia has allocated over 26 billion AMD from the state budget for various Covid-19-related activities, including prevention, detection, treatment, and other measures. It is important to recall that last year, based on the Minister of Healthcare’s order, the state budget of the Republic of Armenia was adopted by the public budgetary institution for the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, medical care, and support of the epidemic, as well as the “Medical Clinic” CJSC.

Arsen Torosyan is currently under suspicion for attempted abuse of power and negligence in organizing rallies. Further details about the situation will be published in today’s newspaper.
