“Quick Response by Police Leads to Arrest of Suspect in Abroad Crime Report”

On April 3, at 16:45, the “911” service received a call from a 24-year-old woman living abroad, reporting a crime. The information was transferred to the Internal Affairs Department, and an operative group was dispatched to the given location on Alek Manukyan street.

According to a news report by NEWS.am, the woman informed the police that an unknown individual had knocked on her door, claiming to be her neighbor. He then proceeded to contact her and demanded money, to which she replied that she did not possess any. Subsequently, according to the woman’s account, the man took his wife’s bank card, made contact with her, and withdrew money from her account. He then returned and attempted to restrain her, but she managed to escape, albeit with her feet tied.

Law enforcement authorities promptly initiated investigative activities and forwarded relevant documents to the Criminal Investigation Department.

Through the combined efforts of the Central Police Department and the authorities of Yerevan, the identity of the suspect was quickly established. As a result of operational and investigative measures, the individual was found on Hrachya Kocharyan street in Yerevan on April 4 at 11:55. With the necessary use of force for apprehension, the suspect was detained and transferred to the Central Police Department.

The young man was then taken to the Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation, and the circumstances surrounding the incident are currently being clarified.
