Yerevan’s State Conservatory Professor Ara Gyulbekyan Wins First Prize in International Folk Song Competition

Armenian traditional music performing arts professor Ara Gyulbekyan from Yerevan’s State Conservatory has recently won the first prize in the “Best-2024” international competition organized by the World Association of Arts. Ara Gyulbekyan, who teaches at the music school of the conservatory, received his education in the village of Akhalkalak, specializing in traditional Armenian music. His first singing teacher was Ashugh Aliq Javakhk (Aliq Kspoyan), and he has since become a specialist in the field of arts under the direction of Professor Arsen Voskanyan. Ara Gyulbekyan has previously participated in various competitions, including those representing the “Garun” branch of the “Garni” ensemble in Javakhk. This time, he performed a series of Sayat Nova’s songs in the competition organized by the World Association of Arts, “The International Festival of Performances of Performing Arts”. With each competition victory, Ara Gyulbekyan continues to hope for even greater successes in the future. He serves as the main ambassador of the Conservatory of Yerevan and Armenian classical and performing arts, bringing pride to their names.
