“President Biden and President Xi Jinping Discuss Ukraine Conflict and China’s Role in Support of Russia”

The White House has announced a two-hour telephone conversation between President Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping. The discussion revolved around various issues affecting the relationship between the two countries, with particular emphasis on the conflict in Ukraine. According to a statement, President Biden expressed concern about Russia’s military and political support for China, as well as its involvement in European and transatlantic security. Furthermore, French government sources revealed that China is assisting Russia in enhancing its military capabilities, thereby facilitating Russia’s violation of Ukraine’s security and potentially affecting China’s ambitions in Europe.

The US Embassy in China also released a statement on its official website, echoing the concerns raised by the White House. A senior official from the foreign administration expressed the expectation that Russian President Putin would send clear signals to China during his meeting with President Xi Jinping on April 1. This is believed to be motivated by the potential threat posed to the international community, including China’s interests, by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

The Chinese regime, as reflected in the reports from the “Xinhua” agency, touched upon the Ukrainian issue in a more subtle manner. The leaders of both countries were said to have exchanged views not only on Ukraine but also on the current situation in the Korean Peninsula.
