If we invade today, the Azerbaijanis will accuse us of recognizing Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan and of conceding to their demands for repatriation. This was stated by Harutyun Danielyan, the spokesperson for the “Armenia” faction in the National Assembly, in an interview on April 2.

Furthermore, Danielyan suggested that the heroic writers of Armenia need to gather and establish that Yerevan is an Armenian settlement. He expressed his frustration with the notion that everything in Yerevan, every stone and hill, should be considered Armenian. According to him, the Azerbaijanis arrived under occupation and took advantage of the prosperity of the Armenians, building houses and giving them Turkish names.

Danielyan emphasized the difficult interethnic relations and the lack of normal neighbors. While the Azerbaijanis claim they want to leave, they have not actually done so. This poses a dilemma for neighboring villages like Baghanis and Voskepar, as they might not be able to sustain their communities if people from Kirants were to settle in their village. Danielyan also expressed concern about the impact on children’s education for those currently living in the area.
