“Armenian Catholicos Boycotts Government Ceremony, Raising Tensions with Prime Minister Pashinyan”

“Hraparak” newspaper reported that on Sunday, the Catholicos, along with the Armenian Apostolic Church, attended a commemoration ceremony for Catholicos St. Gregory the Illuminator at the Etchmiadzin Cathedral. However, unlike in previous occasions, the Prime Minister did not participate in the ceremony. Pashinyan and his team believe that this decision was deliberate, as the Catholicos has criticized the government and its handling of recent political events. With the blessings of the Catholicos, individuals have taken it upon themselves to fill this void by reading scripture and comparing it to the teachings of Christ.

Pashinyan expressed his admiration for Jesus Christ during a meeting with the participants of the Artasatuk athletic event on March 30. He referred to Jesus as an ideal leader and the greatest revolutionary in history, emphasizing the impact he had on Earth through his miracles and teachings. Pashinyan also mentioned relating this figure to their political activities and struggle, acknowledging both the losses and gains experienced by their political movement.
