The Russian “MIR” payment system cards will no longer be serviced in Armenia starting from April 5. This decision was announced by the local “Elkart” operator. The reason behind this decision is to reduce the risk of using duplicate payment methods, according to the National Payment Card System company. The U.S. Department of the Treasury has also stated that the application of duplicate payment methods will be limited by February 23, 2024. As a result, many banks in Armenia have already suspended their work with Russian “MIR” payment system cards since March 30.
