“Memorial in the Forest: Construction Progress Reaches Almost 10%”

Construction work on the memorial in the forest has reached nearly 10 percent completion. During a meeting with the working group of the Yerevan City Hall’s Urban Development and Land Management Department on April 1, Tigran Geghamyan, who is responsible for construction and improvement, provided an update on the progress. Currently, construction is underway for the parking lot, with the basement already 80 percent completed. Work is also ongoing for the memorial building, lighting, and installation of internet cables. Landscaping in the surrounding area has been finished, and the forest area is nearing completion. The preparation for the monument’s artistic metal structure has been completed, and installation of the main granite stairs and lighting system is currently in progress, along with work on the irrigation system.

Mayor Tigran Avinyan emphasized the importance of avoiding excessive use of concrete in memorial locations. He spoke about the need to prioritize landscaping, green areas, and the overall harmony with nature. Avinyan expressed a desire to preserve trees and ensure that pathways are covered with stones when improving forest areas. He specifically mentioned the need to remove stones and concrete from the 4th part of the circular fountain to create a more natural environment. The mayor emphasized the idea of walking in the forest rather than on stones.
