On April 1st, the price of gold reached a record high on the London Metal Exchange (LME), increasing by 0.8% to $2285.07 per troy ounce. This is a 0.29% increase compared to the previous day and a 9.7% increase since the start of the year. The price of gold initially hit the $2100 mark on March 27, when the markets were closed. Since then, it has surpassed that limit and set five new records in just five days of trading.
