“Controversy Arises as New Roads Remain Undecided in Handover of 4 Villages to Azerbaijan”

The decision to hand over the lands of four villages to Azerbaijan without constructing new roads has been determined. Vasgan Sarkisyan, a journalist on Facebook, reported on this matter. He conducted an informational interview with Hayk Galumyan, the provincial governor appointed by Vahram Pashinyan, who previously resided in the four villages of Basan-Ayrum, Ghzikhalili, Ashagy Askipara (Nerkin Voskepar), and Kharmili. Sarkisyan asked about planned new roads and their expected length.

On March 29, Governor Galumyan responded, stating that no such decision had been made. However, on March 18, in response to concerns from Voskepar residents, Nikol Pashinyan, the head of Voskepar’s community, announced that after the territories of the four villages are handed over to Azerbaijan, Voskepar will face a road problem. He declared that the Voskepar-Jujevan road will be constructed.

Therefore, the issue of constructing new roads in the area remains undecided. It is unclear how the connection with the outside world, the Jajur-Jujevan connection, and transportation communication between Armenia and Azerbaijan will be achieved.
