“Theft of Highly Sensitive Artifacts Clouds British Museum’s Secrecy Exhibition”

The information security organization is expressing concern about the British museum’s decision to hold a major exhibition on the importance of secrecy, including certain highly sensitive artifacts, as announced by The Guardian. According to the article, 11 stone and clay tablets, which were taken by British soldiers in 1868 during the Battle of Madala and have never been exhibited to the public or viewed by the museum’s own curators and experts, have been stolen. Instructions for their return to Ethiopia have been issued, and in 2019, the country’s Minister of Culture visited the museum and requested their repatriation.

The Information and Public Relations Office has now identified the accomplices of the theft. It has been reported that they have hidden the tablets in an information disclosure room (ICO). This act aims to prevent internal discussions about the tablets and their detailed specifications from being revealed.
