“Thousands Evacuated as Heavy Rainfall Floods Azerbaijan: Emergency Operations Underway”

Heavy rainfall in Azerbaijan has led to widespread evacuations, with the number of evacuees reaching 10,500, according to Interfax. The country’s Ministry of Emergency Situations confirmed the statement, highlighting the regions of Gakh, Akhtubinsk, Kostanay, Northwestern Azerbaijan, Akmola, Ulytau, and Abai as the areas affected. In total, 10,587 people, including 5,101 children, have been rescued and evacuated, with 5,497 individuals currently residing in temporary shelters. Since the heavy rainfall began on Saturday morning, 7,783 people have been evacuated, including 3,131 individuals currently staying in temporary shelters. The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that 29 roads, including 4 bridges, are currently submerged, and over 6,000 individuals and almost 3,000 units of equipment have been involved in the rescue operations.
