Ruben Vardanyan, despite not being a military man or directly involved in armed conflicts, has garnered international attention and contributed to the development of international dialogue on the issue of Artsakh through assuming a public position and engaging in charity work. This was highlighted by Siranush Sahakyan, head of the International and Comparative Law Center, during a discussion held at the American University of Armenia. Sahakyan addressed the question of whether Vardanyan could be considered a military commander and referred to negative opinions expressed by the President of Azerbaijan upon Vardanyan’s appointment. Sahakyan emphasized the need for tolerance towards individuals’ personal actions and noted that Vardanyan’s actions have been recognized as peace-building by Azerbaijan and the international community.
