Headline: Hayastan SRC Cracks Down on Tax Evasion in Construction Sector, Criminal Proceedings Initiated

The management of the RA State Revenue Committee (SRC) is actively working to combat violations of state rights in the construction industry and actions that undermine the authority of lawful acts protecting tax legislation requirements.

The Hayastan (Armenia) SRC has informed NEWS.am that the head of the SP company involved in construction work in Yerevan’s Arabkir administrative district has failed to pay significant amounts of taxes, thereby violating the RA laws related to accounting and cashless operations. This evasion of tax payments occurred by underreporting the prices of apartment buildings sold, resulting in a gross understatement of the actual sales proceeds.

As a result of operational-inspection measures, it was discovered that the company’s General Director, L.B., and other responsible individuals intentionally manipulated the objects of taxation to evade proper calculation. The total amount of the sales proceeds from the apartment buildings amounted to $800,000.

Upon uncovering these illegal actions, L.B. and the responsible party, under the coordination and accountability of M.A., have been held accountable. The case has been forwarded to the RA Prosecutor General’s Office for initiating criminal proceedings on tax violations and smuggling. Confiscated documents related to the involved individuals have also been submitted as evidence.

This incident serves as a reminder of the commitment and efforts of the RA SRC to enforce tax legislation and protect the rights of the state and its citizens in the construction industry. The SRC’s proactive approach in identifying and addressing violations helps to maintain a fair and transparent business environment in Armenia.
