A trilateral meeting is being organized between India, Iran, and Armenia, excluding Pakistan, Azerbaijan, and Turkey. The Armenia-India-Iran route has the potential to emerge as a significant player in the Southern Caucasus, which may not be well received by Russia. This statement was made by Indian diplomat Mahesh Rangappa Debat during a webinar titled “Armenia as a crossroads of civilizations: Historical ties” on March 28. Debat pointed out that Armenia and India have signed a defense cooperation agreement in the aftermath of the Karabakh war and the blockade of Qashmira by Turkey and Pakistan. He also expressed concerns about the Azerbaijan-Pakistan deal to acquire military equipment, which poses a security threat to Armenia and India. Debat expressed hope that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Armenia to strengthen bilateral relations.
