Many of our city residents are expressing dissatisfaction with the delays in court proceedings and the elongation of hearings and trials. The Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, Grigor Minasyan, stated that the implemented changes in 2023, which were mainly administrative changes in daily court proceedings, have been effective. The main reforms of the judicial system have expanded the scope of fair justice. The Minister also discussed the increase in judges’ salaries, which is an important part of the significant reforms.

The criminal justice reform in Armenia has been highly evaluated by the Council of Europe. The country has moved beyond the evaluation by the Group of States Against Corruption (GRECO) and is considered a “sufficiently” performing country. The Minister also mentioned positive feedback for the recruitment of special forces, which ensures cooperation between military experts and civil society in territorial defense.

The Minister addressed various issues, including the “Ordinary Regime Upgrading Program (2023-2025)”, administrative court cases in Ararat province, changing arbitrators of the Constitutional Court, municipal requirements, and problems of changing mayors.
