“March of Discontent Protesters Show No Sign of Backing Down: Demanding Accountability and Protecting National Sovereignty”

The “March of Discontent” protest in Yerevan shows no signs of stopping according to participant Maris Shirvanyan. He expressed that they will not give up and want the resignation of not just 49, but 500 people. The government’s restriction on their access to the Republic Square is seen as an injustice and violation of political rights. Despite being told they would not be allowed in, the protestors will continue their fight for justice and the protection of national sovereignty.

Shirvanyan emphasized that the main aim of the “March of Discontent” protest is to ensure the government fulfills its obligation to protect the citizens’ sovereignty. However, he believes that the government is suppressing its own people instead. Two days ago, the protestors gathered in front of the Upper Residence, demanding that President Serzh Sargsyan remain in power. The arrest of 49 members of the group resulted from this protest. Nevertheless, the organization states that they will not be suppressed and will continue their struggle.
