If the management system does not function properly and if criticism, as well as discussion of criticism, are not tolerated in public opinion, then we will not have influential individuals or leaders in the future who will strive to solve problems peacefully. Alexandr Iskandaryan, the Mayor of Yerevan’s Nor Nork district, made this statement during a briefing with NEWS.am following an explosion in the district yesterday.

Iskandaryan clarified that if power is not accompanied by legitimate actions, similar incidents will occur. He explained that the existence of power in society is a consequence of the political situation, the Karabakh issue, emigration, and the aftermath of war.

According to Iskandaryan, many governments fail to understand the origin of these problems. “Governments believe that technical solutions can solve the problems, but the underlying issues are much more complex. Simple technical methods are insufficient to address them. The number of terrorist acts in Armenia is rapidly increasing, and this is not a coincidence,” added the mayor.

Iskandaryan emphasized that a significant portion of the population still submits complaints to the “Shadow Heroes” group, which has already been working towards resolving similar problems. He stated that if the government neglects power division, it will only exacerbate the issue, as it directly affects everyone. “The events taking place in the village of Tavush serve as an opportunity to examine our system of values. The government cannot provide the security that people require, and thus, people are mobilizing themselves to do what the government should have already done. It is a form of self-defense,” remarked Aleksandr Iskandaryan.
