The preliminary investigation conducted by the Lori Regional Investigative Committee reveals that a 43-year-old woman from Vanadzor was brutally attacked by her former husband, resulting in injuries to her hands and feet. According to a report from NEWS.am, on January 2, 2024, a 40-year-old woman filed a case of domestic violence, recounting that she had visited her former mother-in-law’s house in Vanadzor on the same day and was subjected to multiple physical assaults, causing bruises and injuries all over her body.

Following the incident, a forensic examination was conducted to gather evidence related to the violent attack. The investigation determined that on January 2, 2024, at approximately 15:00, a verbal dispute broke out between the former in-laws in Vanadzor. The husband, who was intoxicated at the time, proceeded to grab a knife from the kitchen and launch an attack on his wife, resulting in multiple wounds to her head, arms, and feet.

The 40-year-old victim suffered severe physical and psychological injuries, including fractures in various parts of her body. In desperation, she sought help from her neighbors. The former mother-in-law of the victim has been charged under Article 196 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia based on the collected evidence.

The distress call made by the victim was flagged as the catalyst for invoking Article 194. The investigation has been concluded, and the case materials have been forwarded to the court for further examination.
