“Spain’s Supreme Court Suspends Telegram Services Amidst Media Companies’ Copyright Complaints”

The Supreme Court of Spain has decided to suspend the services of Telegram in the country following complaints from media companies. These companies have raised concerns that Telegram allows users to download their content without permission. Reuters reports that the court’s source has confirmed this information.

Starting from Thursday, the use of Telegram in Spain will be temporarily suspended due to demands from media companies, including Atresmedia, EGEDA, Mediaset, and Telefonica.

Reuters also reports that Judge Santyago Pedrasa has agreed to suspend Telegram’s services in Spain while the complaints are still under consideration. The court has requested mobile operators to block Telegram’s services.

According to data from the National Commission on Markets and Competition (CNMC), Telegram is the fourth most popular messaging service in Spain, with 19% of Spaniards using it.
