“Yerevan School to Offer Western Armenian: Efforts to Preserve Cultural Identity Gain Steam”

In one of the schools in Yerevan, Western Armenian will now be taught, according to Zarēh Sinanyan, the Chief Commissioner for the Affairs of the Diaspora. Sinanyan made this announcement during a session of the National Assembly’s Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth, and Sports. He emphasized the importance of teaching Western Armenian, as it is an integral part of the rich culture and identity of Armenia. Sinanyan also mentioned that the demand for non-fiction books in Western Armenian has been increasing, and plans are underway to publish more high-quality books in the language. Additionally, there are plans to renovate and reconstruct schools in Yerevan, with support from a generous benefactor, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports. The promotion of Western Armenian will be included in these efforts. However, Sinanyan did not specify which school the announcement was referring to.
