“Wasted Public Funds: Activist Exposes Broken Fountain and Dried-Up River in Yerevan’s Rebuilt Shirak Market”

An article has been published by activist and blogger Artur Chakoyan, stating that the closed market near the rebuilt Shirak river is worth 50 million drams, which the city hall has spent. Chakoyan has presented a broken fountain, indicating that it is not working.

“Public funds are being wasted like this,” he said. “In the course of one month, the newly built river has been dried up twice. Now the river flows in water.”

Avinyan has built a reservoir in Lake Yerevan during the river’s flow. The Yerevan municipality has announced that it can do nothing except collect the fee and suppress protests.

“It is a dishonest work,” he said. “Debris is being dumped, and in the meantime, garbage is being collected at the top.”
