“Key Judicial Session Approaching: My Step Alliance to Elect Judge Vazgen Rstuni, Opposition Parties Present Their Candidates”

The newspaper “Zhoghovurd” reports that an important session of the judicial system is scheduled to take place on March 29. During this session, a judge will be elected from the ruling My Step alliance. Judge Vazgen Rstuni is the only candidate from this alliance and is expected to be confirmed according to the judicial system. The opposition Bright Armenia party has also elected a judge to the panel, along with Judge Sergey Marabyan from the Judicial Society, which has recently criticized the Judicial Council of Judges and the President of the Constitutional Court. The panel is now facing a difficult decision. However, the judicial system believes that the election of the opposition judge from the My Step alliance will proceed.

It should be noted that in order to become a judge, Vazgen Rstuni, a member of the My Step party, submitted his candidacy to David Balayan, the Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Committee, as well as Sason Khachatryan, the brother of the former President of the Constitutional Court and Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Committee. The judges did not elect him and instead voted in favor of David Balayan, but Balayan did not choose himself. It remains to be seen how the judicial system will resolve this situation.
