The head of the French armed forces, General Thierry Burkhard, has announced that the assistance provided by Western countries to the Eastern states will be limited to supplying weapons. This statement was cited by AFP. General Burkhard emphasized the need for Europeans to be willing to take risks in order to ensure security in Europe over the next decade. Although Kiev has not requested troops, he added that NATO should be prepared for any escalation of the situation.
