“Massive Snowfall Sweeps Across Armenia as Cyclone Hits; More Expected as Another System Approaches”

The Republic of Armenia has been experiencing heavy snowfall as a result of a powerful cyclone sweeping across the country. The regions of Shirak, Lori, Tavush mountains, Aragatsotn, Kotayk, Vayots Dzor, Gegharkunik, and Syunik have all been affected by this weather event. According to the National Center for Hydrometeorology and Monitoring, the snowfall has reached a maximum height of 151 cm in the northern part of Aragats, 72 cm in Amberd, 56 cm in Jermuk, and 10-40 cm in other mountainous areas. This snowfall is expected to continue until the middle of March 20 and gradually decrease thereafter.

On March 21, another cyclone is predicted to move into Armenia from the Mediterranean region. This will result in more snowfall in regions above 1500 meters, while lower areas will experience rainfall. Stay tuned for further updates on the weather conditions in Armenia.
