“If Ignoring Allegations is the New Norm, What Happens to Justice?”

Our announcement is directed towards the judiciary, law enforcement agencies, and partners of the International Criminal Court, as well as our fellow citizens who may have opinions or be involved in clarifying these allegations. During the announcement at the National Assembly on March 19, the spokesperson for the opposition party, Arsen Torosyan, mentioned an incident that occurred in Avan, a district of Yerevan near Kotayk town. The incident involved reports of violence, physical abuse, possession of illegal weapons, and explosives. However, there is another aspect to this episode. According to our knowledge, a transportation company in Avan has been operating for nearly two months, offering services such as taxi, transportation of dangerous goods, physical labor, and carrying of defensive weapons. Although the Avan community’s political group, linked with the Abrajian City Workers, approached the judiciary regarding this matter, no public statement has been made on the case. Should our partners remain indifferent to these allegations? Can they disregard such a serious violation or change their opinions over time? Can those who work for the transportation company, including child laborers with elementary school children or respected individuals, speak out about this issue? Arsen Torosyan stated, “They only act when they have the upper hand.” In Avan, a car was blocked by two groups, leading to a struggle and verbal and physical assault on the driver.
