“Armenia’s Affordable Housing Program Reaches 70% Completion: Boilers and Infrastructure Projects Planned for Yerevan”

I would like to inform you about the progress of the positive program to build affordable housing in the regions of Armenia, which is about 70 percent implemented. During the regular sitting of the Yerevan City Hall’s executive body on March 18, HOAK Chairman Armen Begoyan discussed the monitoring and current situation of affordable housing and environmental preservation. Yerevan Governor Tigran Avinyan inquired about the planned installation of boilers and their quantities. Begoyan responded by stating that the installation would be completed by the end of April or the beginning of May. Gas boilers will be mainly installed, along with solar panels and an increase in waste disposal facilities. All necessary equipment has been acquired, including a 100 km gas pipeline. The construction of the general gas system and the irrigation system, covering nearly 200 hectares, will commence soon. Half of the required funds have already been received, and the process of purchasing materials will begin shortly.

Mayor Tigran Avinyan expressed surprise regarding the timeline for the installation of boilers, the number of years it will take, and the amount of affordable housing units to be constructed in Yerevan. Begoyan explained that the installation of boilers would take approximately two years, and the construction of city apartments would take around five years. These are complex issues, as the cost of installations in Italy is 1-2 euros, while managing them within the range of 10-30 euros presents challenges. Meeting the quality criteria for installation could be achieved in about 2-3 years and will depend on the availability of affordable housing units in Yerevan.
