SpaceX is reportedly partnering with the U.S. National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) to develop a network of military-grade communication satellites. The agreement, valued at $1.8 billion, was signed in 2021 and aims to enhance the capabilities of high-resolution satellite imaging for the U.S. government and military. With this network, they will be able to rapidly detect and respond to any location on Earth. The NRO, which oversees intelligence satellites, has confirmed the existence of the agreement.

Sources say that if successful, this program will greatly enhance the U.S.’s surveillance capabilities. The partnership between SpaceX and the NRO is a strategic alliance with a company highly experienced in reconnaissance. It is worth noting that the company is owned by Joe Biden’s administration, which has previously criticized the use of satellite communication during the conflict in Ukraine.

Earlier reports from The Wall Street Journal mentioned an undisclosed agreement worth $1.8 billion with Starshield which focuses on secretive intelligence operations. However, details about the specific objectives of the program have not been disclosed.
