“Zhoghovurd Exposes Lack of Progress in Armenia’s Irrigation System Despite Prime Minister’s Promises”

Newspaper “Zhoghovurd” reported that during a government session of the Republic of Armenia on May 8, 2018, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that the irrigation system needed to be a continuous process in order to efficiently utilize water resources. Since then, five and a half years have passed without much progress. Last year, Pashinyan mentioned that an irrigation schedule had been implemented in Armenia, which aimed to include infrastructure construction or restoration and fair allocation of water resources. However, “Zhoghovurd” pointed out that there is no published data regarding the extent of irrigation distribution increase since Pashinyan’s announcement. Villagers have expressed their dissatisfaction with the system, citing the need for frequent loans and unfair distribution practices.
